I am a licensed clinical social worker in Juneau, AK. I offer individual and family therapy services to adolescents (14+) and adults and reflective consultation to individuals and groups. I bring 16 years experience working as a therapist with a wide variety of people across diverse settings that include community and tribal health clinics, substance use recovery centers, and community courts.
Psychotherapy
The most central idea informing my work is that we are each uniquely shaped by social interactions beginning in early childhood and continuing throughout life. These relationships and experiences help to shape how we see ourselves and our relationship to others and the world. With this in mind, a respectful and collaborative relationship is central to my approach to psychotherapy, allowing you to express thoughts and feelings you may have trouble expressing elsewhere. Theoretical frameworks and concepts that influence my practice include relational psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, and the impacts of trauma on our development and functioning. Whether working with the past or tending to the present moment, it is my intention to attend to our work with compassion, acceptance, and hope.
Reflective Consultation
Reflective consultation is offered as consistent, ongoing support to individuals and/or groups. It is a professional development experience that can contribute to a more thoughtful, adaptive, and skilled approach to work. Grounded in developmental and attachment theory, emphasis is placed on self-reflection, active listening, and open dialogue to enhance problem-solving and decision-making skills, cohesion and shared vision within teams, and to support creative solutions.
At this point in time, I am an in-network provider with Aetna, EBMS, and Premera/BCBS. Payment is due at the time of service. If requested, I can provide a superbill to be submitted to insurance for reimbursement.
